Why Dose should be minimized with Screentime?

Screentime and dose

Let’s consider 2 situations:

– You are watching TV on a sofa for 4 hours
– You are browsing/streaming on a cell phone for 4 hours

In both cases the screentime is … 4 hours !

But, we could argue that the second situation is several times riskier.

Why?

With TV watching the wireless radiation dose is likely 0 (zero), especially if the TV is older (no Wi-Fi on). However, with the cell phone the wireless radiation / microwave radiation (MW) / radio frequency (RF) radiation exposure may exceed FCC legal limits (1,6 W/kg US) and ICNIRP limits (2.0 W/kg Europe/Asia/Africa).
So, the RF/MW dose can be way too high.  Especially, if the device is pressed (with cellular/mobile data ON) against stomach – and especially if network coverage is poor.

That is why dose minimization should be  part of every screentime minimization effort!
